Version 2 Release 1
September 1999

This document has been designed specifically for information reporting of prescription-dispensing activity. It is not intended, nor would it adequately support use, as a claim-submission document. Its primary purpose is to allow the reporting of activity at the pharmacy to a central source for aggregate processing.

Version 2 Release 1 has been enhanced to allow the two-way flow of information between a disease-management system and pharmacy-management system.

Possible uses of this transaction include:

  • Reporting information to participate in a patient refill-reminder program.
  • Reporting of Controlled Substances in states where this is required.
  • Providing data for market research.

Participating in university research projects on patient compliance, directions of use for specific drugs, and the like.
